BOMET COUNTY GET MEDICAL SUPPLY FROM
US
BY JEFFERSON KIPKEMOI.
The Chief Officer of Health in Charge
of Medical services in Bomet county government Dr. Bernard Sowek has said that the
US government has donated medical equipment worth Sh. 100 million to the
county.
“The donation of the equipment comes
courtesy of the recent visit by Bomet governor Isaac Ruto to Georgia State in
the US,” he revealed.
Dr. Sowek said the equipment which
consists mainly of maternity health services facilities are expected in the
country in mid of April this year.
He noted that the county government had
plans to expand maternity wings in the existing health facilities due to the
need of such services by expectant mothers.
While calling on expectant women to
reduce their dependence on traditional birth attendants, the doctor said they
should seek maternity services from health facilities that were well equipped and
well staffed to avoid fatalities during child birth.
“The county government plans to open 23 new
maternity wings in health institutions spread across the county’s five
constituencies.” He said.
He pointed that the equipment from
the US will go a long way in achieving that target.
